Abstract

A comb or brush comprises at least one container (1, 2) for storing flowable hair treatment preparation and, associated with the or each container, piston means 11, 12, 13, 14, and valve means 17, 18, 19 for dispensing said preparation from said storage means into the vicinity of teeth or bristles, respectively, of the comb or brush for application to the hair of the user. Preferably the hair preparation is dispensed through hollow teeth (3, 4) disposed among the teeth or bristles. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Comb or brush The present invention relates to a comb or brush, which comprises at least one container for storing flowable hair treatment preparation and, associated with the or each container, means for dispensing said preparation from said storage means into the vicinity of teeth or bristles, respectively, of the comb or brush for application to the hair of the user.
Preferably the or each dispensing means comprises hollow teeth through which the preparation may flow from the container disposed among the teeth or bristles.
A preferred embodiment allows greasy and/or oil preparations to be applied and comprises (a) a first container for storing a preparation in the form of a grease, the associated dispensing means comprising a plunger for expelling grease from the container; and/or (b) a second container for storing a preparation in the form of an oil, the associated dispensing means comprising a resiliently biassed valve in the container base.
Pressure must be applied to a grease to expell it from its container, whilst the oily preparation being less viscous may flow out of its own accord.
The plunger of (a) may be operated by means of an internally threaded hollow cap in screw-threaded engagement with external threads provided on said first container.
The valve of (b) may comprise a valve seat in the base of said second container closed by a resiliently biassed valve member, which is unseatable by means of a rod operable on said valve member.
Preferably, operation of the rod simultaneously opens a vent of said second container to allow air thereinto. Said rod may be locked such as to maintain said valve in the open position.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view; Figure 2 is a sectional view along line ll-ll of Fig. 4; Figure 3 is a perspective exploded view, and Figure 4 is a bottom view of the embodiment.
The improved brush has two containers for loading liquid and greasy hair oil respectively, thus the hair may be done without touching the hair oil directly. Generally, one has to apply the hair oil onto the hands before putting on the hair. The drawback of this way of applying hair oil is that it can not be evenly applied on hair and in the long run the user's hands may be harmed by the chemical materials.
Using this invention the user's hands need never come into contact with the chemical materials.
As shown in the Figures, the brush comprises a body 5 provided with conventional teeth, a container 1 for hair grease, a container 2 for hair oil and a cover plate 31.
As shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3, the container 1 for greasy hair oil, is combined with hollow teeth 3 to form a unit. Said hollow teeth 3 are fitted in a slot 6 of body 5 and stick through it. At the left side of container 1, there is a cast lug 7 which is attached to the body 5 by screws 8. Outside the container 1 has threads which engage with the threads on the inside surface of cap 10. In the center of cap 10 is a rod 11 rotatably attached to a piston piece of the same size as the circumference of the container's interior by a pad 12 and a nut 13. After the hair grease is filled into the container 1, turning the cap 10 moves the piston piece downwards and forces the hair grease out through the hollow teeth 3.
In the liquid hair oil container 2, a convex groove ring 15 is inserted into a concave groove ring 16 of the body 5. Hollow teeth 4, concave groove ring 16 and the body 5 are cast in one piece. A pad 17 and a spring 18 are mounted inside the concave groove ring 16 to seal the outlet 19 of the container 2. The container 2 is water-tight A cast lug 22 is attached to the body 5 by screws 9. The volume control rod 23 and spring 24 passes through the joint sleeve 25 and sealing pad 26, and then connects to the press-down plug 27. After the liquid hair oil is introduced, engaging the joint sleeve 25 and the joint sleeve 21, and pressing the volume control rod 23 downwards causes liquid hair oil to flow out of the hollow teeth 4 as the press-down plug 27 moves the pad 17 from the feeding outlet 19, allowing air to enter into the container 2 through guide groove 20.The volume control rod 23 may be kept pressed down by turning it 90 degrees to let flange 30 engage flange 29 of joint sleeve 25, so that liquid hair oil flows out continuously.
1. A comb or brush, which comprises at least one container for storing flowable hair treatment preparation and, associated with the or each container, means for dispensing said preparation from said storage means into the vicinity of teeth or bristles, respectively, of the comb or brush for application to the hair of the user.
2. A comb or brush according to claim 1, wherein the or each dispensing means comprises hollow teeth through which the preparation may flow from the container disposed among the teeth or bristles.
3. A comb or brush according to claim 1 or 2, which comprises a) a first container for storing a preparation in the form of a grease, the associated dispensing means comprising a plunger for expelling grease from the container; and/or b) a second container for storing a preparation in the form of an oil, the associated disensing means comprising a resiliently biassed valve in the container base.
4. A comb or brush according to claim 3, wherein said plunger of (a) is operable by means of an internally threaded hollow cap in screw-threaded engagement with external threads provided on said first container.
