Abstract

In a process for obtaining cellulose from wood and the like by treatment with chlorine peroxide and subsequently with alkaline lye, the chlorine peroxide is used in solvents, such as dilute acetic acid, which dissolve the lignin after it has been transformed by the chlorine peroxide.
