Rotary machines; inking - apparatus. - A machine for printing on tape or the like is fitted with a detachable ink container and inkfeeding rolls, so that a change in the colour of the print can be readily secured. As shown, the tape passes from a spool H over a fixed bar to a laterally adjustable guide K and thence between rubber-covered printing and impression rollers G', G<2>, which are detachably secured to spindles F, F<2> mounted in a frame A. The printing-roller is inked by a roller G<3>, which receives its ink from geared rollers D, D<1>, D<2> mounted in a container C fitted on a table B in an adjustable and readily detachable manner. The container is adjustable by a screw C<3> and is secured in position by a screw C', which engages a threaded orifice in an extension C<2> of the base of the container. When desired a container C with fresh ink and a separate set of rollers D, D', D<2> can be substituted for the one in use. The rollers G<2>, G<3> are mounted in bridge-pieces A', A<8> guided by pins and slots in the frame A and adjustable by means of screws A<8>, A' fitted with lock-nuts. The screws A<6>, A<9> actuate yokes integral with the bridgepieces, and they adjust the rollers to such positions that the printing-surface of the roller G' contacts with rollers G<3>, and so that the printing-pressure between the rollers G', G<2> is sufficient for a good impression. The shaft F<1> is driven from a driving-shaft by a cord G<Î> and pulley G, which drives by a crossed belt J<2> a roller J in contact with a receiving spool H<2> mounted in a pivoted cradle H<3>. Before passing to the spool H<2>, the tape is turned through an angle of 180 degrees so as to bring the printed side uppermost on the spool H<2>, and after being thus reversed, the tape passes over a roller K<2>, a guide K<3>, and a reciprocating guide K<4>. The rollers G<2>, G<3> may be mounted in spring-controlled supports and be separated from the roller G<1> by any convenient means when required.
