Abstract
25,481. Widmer, H. A. Nov. 15. Blotting-appliances; pens.-A blotting-attachment for reservoir pens &c. comprises a cylindrical blotting-pad in the form of a roller 1, Fig. 2, adapted to be retained in the cap 3 of the pen when not in use, and to be slid out of the cap when required. The roller 1 is mounted on a screwed spindle 4 in a semicircular casing 2 having disk ends and provided with a link member 6 in the form of an inclined arm, which is connected to a sliding ring or ejecting member 7 by a pin 10 adapted to slide in a longitudinal slot 8 in the cap. A spring 9 is connected with the arm 6 in such a manner that it tends to press the arm into a position parallel to the axis of the cap; consequently, when the roller casing has been ejected by sliding forward the ring 7, the blotting-roller sets at an angle to the axis of the cap suitable for using the blotter. In a modification as shown in Fig. 4, the roller casing is independent of the cap but is retained therein by means of a resilient spring 12 attached to the roller casing 2 and carrying a finger-piece 13 which bears against the inner wall of the cap. In this form, the roller is withdrawn from the cap by means of a button 11 attached to the end of the spindle 4.
