Abstract
600. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boverie, et Cie. Feb. 5, 1910, [Convention date]. Rotary converters. - Frequency-converters comprising two series -connected and mechanically - coupled induction machines a, b are regulated by means of a commutator machine k, l in such a manner that the amount and direction of energy transference between the mains, or the potential ratio, or the phase angle, and the ratio between the periodicities may be varied at will. The commutator machine k, t is shunt-wound, and is connected in cascade with one of the induction machines, for example with the machine b as in Fig. 1, or with the machine a as in Fig. 2. In the latter case, it is also connected to one of the secondary mains. The regulation is effected in any suitable manner, such as by varying the number of windings of the field of the commutator machine or its exciting - current by transformers or a separately-excited machine; or by adjustment of the brushes, variation of speed, or by a separately controlled and driven commutator machine.
