Abstract

5836. Bailey, J. March 10. Washing.-In washing, scouring, or like machines for textile piece goods, the drafts of fabric are delivered in a contracted condition to the squeezing or nipping rollers by specially formed and arranged guideways, troughs, or funnels. Fig. 1 shows the guidewayf in position with the ordinary arrangement of washing - machine. These guideways or troughs, which may be made of wood, earthenware, brass, or other suitable material, are of the sections shown in Figs. 4 and 5, and may be formed either square or rectangular with converging sides and their ends tapered or curved so that they are brought close to the nip of the squeezing- rollers. The guideways are held in position either horizontally or incliued, by the pins g engaging with the cross-pieces e attached to the side frame of the machine. One or more drafts may be passed through each guideway.
