Abstract

4299. Bailey, W. O. Feb. 21. Disk and wheel apparatus; wheels, composition of.-Grinding and polishing wheels, particularly face grinders, are formed of an annlar ring a of abrading - material, surrounded by protecting- rings b of softer material to prevent the work from being scored. These rings are secured in cells d and held to the disk c by inclined flanges e. These grinding - wheels are particularly suitable for use with the abrading-material feeding-apparatus described in Specification No. 10,339, A.D. 1904, as they possess a sufficient surface to retain the abrading-material without having a wide grinding- surface. The protecting-rings may be formed of compressed felt, or other suitable material. According to the Provisional Specification, plaster of paris with a glutinous substance may be used for these rings. The surface of the protecting-rings may be grooved to retain the abrading-material.
