Abstract

27,600. Witzenmann, E. Dec. 16. Respirators.-A nasal apparatus to facilitate the breathing of pure air in a vitiated atmosphere consists of a hollow easing m provided with flap valves e,f, acting as inlet and outlet valves respectively. Caps g, hare screwed over these valves, a tube being connected to the cap g, and leading to the pure air supply. A partition separates the nasal apertures a, b, so that pure air is inspired at one nostril and expired at the other ; but this partition may be dispensed with. The apparatus may be fixed to a helmet or net worn over the head, the air tubes, which are preferably of spirallywound metal, being carried from the apparatus to the helmet and then to the waist-belt to obviate any drag upon the apparatus.
