Abstract

6518. Faber, F. M. March 20. Blow-off apparatus. -The face and seat of a blow off valve are kept free from sediment by steam issuing upwards from an annular recess 12, Fig. 1, around the seat and supplied from the main steam pipe of the boiler through a port 13. The steam afterwards escapes to the open air through the valve outlet 4. In a modification, the inlet 13 is placed tangential to the annular space around the seat, the dirt being removed by the whirling action of the steam. The recess 12 is then omitted. For cleaning the valve inlet 3, an opening 14, closed by a plug, is provided.
