Abstract

196,635. Birkett, R. May 22, 1922. Cleaning internally, rotary appliances for.-A rotary brush for removing deposit from the cylinder heads of internal-combustion engines comprises tufts 5 of metallic bristles, some of which are disposed axially and others, at the edge, are inclined, in order to enter the rounded corner of the cylinder head. If the bristles are made from flat wire the tufts are set haphazard, as shown in Fig. 2, to augment the scraping action. The brash may be centred by a conical block 11 spring-mounted on the rod 8; but if the cylinder head is not provided with a central hole 15, the rod may be spring-mounted in a spider placed in the open end of the cylin'ier. One or more scrapers more rigid than the bristles may be combined therewith.
