Abstract

176,200. Baxter, Ltd., W. H., and Baxter, W. H. Jan. 12, 1921. Materials, supplying.-Stone and other material is raised and discharged into the hopper of a sand and gravel washing machine &c. by means of a bucket having two pairs of bowls or runners on its opposite sides to run upon the side portions of two inclined supports provided with end and stop pieces and pockets fixed thereto, a chain or wire rope attached to the bucket being led to a flanged pulley or barrel operated by friction mechanism controlled by a lever so that the bucket is first raised and then tilted to discharge its contents when one pair of the bowls have entered one set of pockets and the other pair have come in contact with the corresponding stops. The invention is shown applied to a stone breaking and screening machine. The inclined guides s, Figs. 1 and 2, which are trough or U- shaped in cross-section and connected by stays u to the framework a of the crusher, are provided at the lower ends with bifurcated and inclined pieces v forming pockets in which the rollers x on the sides of the bucket w engage when the bucket is in its lowest position to receive material. Near the upper part of the guides s, pockets 26 are provided in which the rollers y on the bucket engage and stop-pieces 28 with which the rollers contact so that the bucket is tilted to discharge the stone &c. into the hopper m of the jaw-crusher c. The winding-rope 5 is connected to a cross-bar 6, which connects the upper ends of bars 4 secured to a bracket 2 on the bucket, and to a flange pulley 8 carried on a spindle 9 mounted in bearings in a bracket 10. A friction bevel-wheel 11, Fig. 3, on one end of the spindle 9 can be moved in or out of gear with a pinion 12 on a shaft 13, which is driven by a belt 16 from the driving-shaft of the crusher c, by means of a weighted lever 18 pivoted on a bracket 19 on a cross-piece t connecting the upper ends of the guides s. Pins 20 on the upper end of the lever 18 engage in grooves in a pulley 21 on the spindle 9. Friction-blocks 30 are provided for arresting the rotation of the pulley 8 when the attendant releases the lever 18.
