Abstract

175,826. Henley's Telegraph Works Co., Ltd., W. T., and Judge, E. E. Dec. 14, 1920. Sleeve couplings.-In jointing submarine cables, the armouring b of each portion of the cable is bent back around a ring a and is clamped between this ring and a second ring d by bolts f and nuts e. The armouring is further clamped between the ring a and a third ring g which is forced partially over the ring a by the pressure of a gland member k. In the arrangement shown, the members k on each portion of the cable are mounted in short lengths of the tubing h which are drawn together by a muff j. In a modification, a single length of tubing serves to draw the members k towards one another.
