160,816. Aktiebolaget Ljungstr÷ms Angturbin. April 1, 1920, [Convention date]. Pipes and tubes; plates and sheets.-Ribs are formed on metal plates, flattened pipes or the like by two tools which are pressed into the metal and then forced together. To form ribs on both sides of a plate 1, Fig. 1, pairs of tools 4, 5 are pressed by casings 6, 7 into the metal and then, as a spring 27 yields or fluid in a cylinder 9 is allowed to escape, the holders 2, 3 turn and the tools 4, 5 press the metal between each pair into a rib. To limit the penetration of the tools the casings or holders have interengaging abutments. In a modification, the tools 4, 5, Fig. 2, act on a tube 15 with an insert 16 and the holders 2, 3 turn about balls or rollers 24 and press upon the pistons 10 through balls or rollers 14. The escape of fluid may be controlled by regulating the size of the conduits 8 or by an interchangeable perforated plate 19, Fig. 2. To prevent the pipe 15 from buckling plates to press thereon may be attached to the left-hand holders 2, 3.
