Abstract
164,177. Peake, W. March 22, 1920. Levels and clinometers.-Relates to coarse and fine adjustments. A spirit level L and crosslevel K are carried by a platform P pivoted at L' in a sheave H<1> which can rotate within a fixed ring H<2>. The sheave has external teeth W which can be engaged by corresponding teeth on a locking-catch T<1> pivoted at T to the ring H<2>, the catch being operated by a. crank-pin X actuated by an arm U. The fine adjustment is effected by a screw F having a graduated head H and bearing at its upper end against a projection N on the platform P. The screw engages in a split nut C, D, held between supports E<1> carried by the sheave; the portion Cis adjustably secured by a bolt A<1> and carries a reader B, and the portion D is automatically adjusted by a spring E.
