Abstract

1533924 Photographic colour transfer process using water-absorbent layer KODAK Ltd 20 June 1977 [19 March 19761 11205/76 Heading G2C A photographic colour diffusion transfer process comprises transfer of one or more diffusible dye image-forming materials, formed as a result of development of one or more exposed photographic silver halide emulsion layers, through a waterswellable layer(s) permeated with aqueous processing composition to a dye image-receiving layer to form a dye image, the distance(s) through which the diffusible dye image-forming material(s) diffuse being reduced by absorbing at least one third of the water present in the processing composition in a water-absorbent layer(s) located so that the dye image-forming material(s) do not have to diffuse through them to form the dye image. The water-absorbent layer preferably comprises gelatine which, in the Examples, is coated at 2000-4000 mg/ft<SP>2</SP>. Colour image definition is improved.
