Abstract

1528184 Safety belt reels BRITAX (WINGARD) Ltd 15 Sept 1976 [24 Sept 1975] 39107/75 Heading A3V A safety belt reel for mounting in different vehicles has an inertia-responsive ball 5 in a dished support 4 adjustably mounted on an arcuate track 11 centred on the axis of the ratchet wheel. Vehicle acceleration causes ball 5 to push pawl 7 to lock ratchet wheel 9 on belt shaft 10. Track 11 is smooth and support 4 has a toothed portion 12 engaging an adjusting screw 13. In Figure 2 (not shown) track (20) is toothed and support has a toothed element 21. A further plane of adjustment may be provided.
