Abstract
1526943 Heavy-duty detergent PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 5 Jan 1976 [3 Jan 1975 5 Sept 1975] 322/75 and 36630/75 Heading C5D Liquid detergents which are free of builder comprise (a) 20-70 wt. per cent of surfactant comprising ( I) fatty alcohol-ethylene oxide adduct wherein 5-15 moles of ethylene oxide are added per mole of fatty alcohol, at least 60% of the fatty alcohol contains 17-25 carbon atoms and the HLB value of the adduct is 9-15 and (2) a surface active sodium, potassium or mono-, di- or triethanolamine salt, the weight ratio (1):(2) being from 1À1:1 to 6:1 and (b) 30-80% of C 1-4 alkanol or aqueous alkanol of at least 10% concentration such that at a dilution in water of 6000 p.p.m. they provide a pH of 6À5 to 8À5. Fatty alcohol-ethylene oxide adducts specified include tallow alcoholethylene oxide adduct. Surface active salts specified include triethanolamine dodecylbenzene sulphonate, triethanolamine fatty alcohol ether sulphate, triethanolamine tallow soap and triethanolamine coconut soap. Alkanols specified include ethanol. The composition may also include free mono-, di- or triethanolamine, brightener, potassium chloride, colouring, colour stabilizer or perfume.
