Abstract

1518791 Space heaters DRG (UK) Ltd 6 Oct 1975 [11 July 1974] 30820/74 Heading F4S A combined convector space heater and radiator consists of spaced apart panels 2 and 6, wherein at least the panel 2 constitutes a heat radiating surface facing the space to be heated, an electric heating element 10 (e.g. of sheet form as described in Specification 1,221,351) being sandwiched between the said panel 2 and a corrugated sheet 8 the corrugations in which form open-ended convection passages for air heated by the element 10. The corrugated sheet is preferably of metal and may be of plain metal, or it may be of louvred, perforated or expanded metal (Figs. 6a, 6b, 6c). The panel 6 may be made of heat insulating material or alternatively it may constitute a further heat radiating surface in which case another electric heating element 10 is sandwiched between it and the corrugated sheet 8. The heater unit comprising the various layers 2, 6, 8, 10 may be mounted in a frame of aluminium channel section such as described in Specification 1,475,285. As shown in Fig. 4 a deflector 20 for the heated air may be mounted above the heater, the air entering the heater at the lower end thereof via a grille 14. A thermal overload device (not shown) may be incorporated to operate before the heating element itself fuses (e.g. at 160‹ to 200‹ C.).
