Abstract
1518193 Hinge constructions Y NAKANISHI 9 Oct 1975 [13 Nov 1974] 41408/75 Heading E2F A method of forming a hinge leaf comprises the steps of forming a metal plate (1a), bending up one edge (1b) attaching a rod member 3 for use as either a hinge pin or a thrust bearing by welding along the edge at 4 (1c) rolling the edge around the rod to form a knuckle 6 (1d, e); the bending operations being performed by dies. In the hinge shown in Fig. 5 a hinge pin 29 is formed in a knuckle 6 by the above method on one leaf 30 and cooperates with another leaf 30a having a knuckle 6a. In the hinge shown in Fig. 8 the pin 29 and a thrust bearing 32 are assembled to respective knuckles 6, 6a on leaves 30, 30a by the above method. Steel bearing disc 34 and steel ball 34 are provided to form a good bearing engagement and a ring 35 of synthetic resin is disposed between the knuckle parts. In a modified hinge (Fig. 9 not shown) a central thrust bearing is attached by the above method to a central knuckle on leaf 30a while leaf 30 has upper and lower knuckles into which two pins can be introduced on assembly of the hinge.
