Abstract
1512845 Automatic analysis; container carrier PYE (ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS) Ltd 13 June 1975 25376/75 Heading G1B A carrier member used in automatic analysis apparatus comprises means to releasably hold sample containers 2 in the carrier member 1, each sample container having at least one projection member 6 for projection through slot 8 and operable to activate functions in the analysis apparatus on arrival of the container at particular . stations of the apparatus, means such as spring 5A to releasably hold the reaction containers in the carrier member 1 in either upper vertical positions before and after partial immersion of the reaction containers in constant temperature bath 22 or in lower vertical positions during partial immersion of the reaction containers in bath 22, and means for identifying the carrier member and the samples contained in it in relation to the analysis results produced when a countinuous stream of the reaction mixtures is passed to a transducer 29. The identifying means may comprise mirrors 11 for reflection of light into a phototransistor when the carrier is in the correct position for a particular function. The presence or absence of projection 16 on a container 2 in the carrier may be sensed by either a pneumatically operated lever or an electrical sensor. The carriers are propelled over platforms 21, 23 and along the surface of waterbath 22 by pneumatic pressure generated by pump 19, the projections 6 activating as appropriate a sample diluter station, dispenser and selective dispenser stations and a reaction product transfer station at which last the reaction mixture is transferred to transducer 29 for measurement. The dispenser station or stations may include stirring means. Different modes of providing a blank are described.
