Abstract

1511844 Valves F X KAY 15 May 1975 [11 June 1974] 25928/74 Heading F2V A combined gas pressure reducing and relief valve assembly comprises a housing 1 having one or more inlet ports 4 and an outlet port 5 between which flow is controlled by a closure member 16 urged in the opening diection by spring 19 acting above piston 18 (or diaphragm 24, Fig. 3, not shown) and in the closing direction by outlet pressure acting below the latter. Should the outlet pressure exceed its set value piston 18 is forced upwardly until valve stem portion 17a fully disengages seal 21 whereupon outlet pressure is vented via passage 20 and port 7. The length of portion 17a determines the relief pressure. The closure member 16 and its seat 12 are formed as a unit which is screwed into housing 1 for easy replacement. The loading of spring 19 can be adjusted by a screw 8.
