Abstract

1505990 End fitting for ropes CCL SYSTEMS Ltd 14 July 1975 [15 July 1974] 31236/74 Heading D1T An end fitting for a rope and of the kind comprising a single - piece body 1 having an axial bore 4 at one end to receive a rope and clevis arms 11 at the other end to receive a pivot pin via apertures 12 is characterised in that the bore 4 has an axial portion and a tapered portion, the tapered portion containing a cone element 5 through which the rope can pass along a bore 7 in the cone element, and the axial part being screw-threaded to receive a threaded plug 6 which, in use, co-acts with the cone element 5 to urge it into tight engagement with the rope end. The outer strands of the rope are splayed back over the cone so as to be sandwiched between the cone 5 and the tapered bore. The plug 6 has a blind bore 10 to receive an Allen key or the like. The cone element 5 may have an axial slot or it may be in the form of a multipart wedge device.
