Abstract

1504909 Louvre blades GREENWOOD AIRVAC VENTILATION Ltd 17 Dec 1976 [20 Dec 1975] 52261/75 Heading F4V A hollow louvre blade 1 has a first and second longitudinally extending opening 5 into the hollow interior of the blade respectively in the vicinity of the blades upper and lower edges. Rain which is wind-driven up the blade's surface passes through the upper opening into the blade, thence through the blade to a lower lip, along the lip, through an aperture 19 in a side member 11 and down the side member to a sump from which it discharges through a drainage pipe 23. Each blade is secured at each end to a flange of a respective angle member 12 provided at each side of the louvre. In a modification, each blade is secured to two flanges of two members 12 (and 30), Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown). Instead of apertures 19, the lower lip of each blade is cut away at one end (at 32) to allow water which has collected in the lip to escape and run down the side of one of the side members 11. Curved blade cross-sections are illustrated in Figs. 7 to 9 (not shown). In a further alternative, blades are supported by securing them to tags pushed out from the side members 11. The openings provided by pushing out the tags may serve as drain openings from the blade interiors.
