Abstract
1439970 Stabilized 1,1,1-trichloroethane DOW CHEMICAL CO 14 Aug 1973 [16 Aug 1972] 38446/73 Heading C5D [Also in Division C2] 1,1,1-Trichloroethane is stabilized against metal-induced degradation by the addition of (A) 0À2 to 1À2% by wt. of a C 3 -C 8 monoepoxide, monochloro-C 3 -C 8 -monoepoxide or mixture thereof, (B) 3À8 to 4À8% by wt. of a mixture of one component from each group (1) 1,1-dimethoxyethane or t-butyl alcohol, (2) dioxene, dioxolane or trioxane and (3) nitromethane in the proportions within the shaded areas of Figs. 1 to 5 (not shown). Stabilizers (A) may be propylene oxide, butylene oxide, pentylene oxide, hexylene. oxide, heptylene oxide, octyllene oxide or a monochloro derivative thereof.
