Abstract

1437768 Nail varnish application aid W D DEARING and A Y TINGLE [trading as ENG INSTALLATION SPECIALISTS CO] 22 May 1974 22784/74 Heading A5R A cosmetic aid comprises a support 1 having an upper surface 3 provided with elongated grooves 4, each groove increasing in depth from the surface towards one end 5 of the support. The aid, a hand support for use in applying nail varnish has four grooves in the embodiment shown, the grooves are substantially parallel, each being tapered in width towards said one end 5 of the support and each being curved in cross section, and defined between ribs 6. The upper surface 3 of the support is inclined at an acute angle to the lower surface (2) Fig. 2 (not shown) which is placed on a horizontal planar table, the support being generally wedge-shaped. The length of the preferably plastics support is sufficient to support the fingers and at least part of the palm in an inclined position. The thumb may be supported on an edge surface by turning the support through 90‹, but a fifth groove may alternatively be provided. In another embodiment (not shown) surfaces 2 and 3 are parallel but the aid is supported on the sloping lid of its wedge-shaped container.
