1437040 Fibre-reinforced gypsum plaster product NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 5 Dec 1974 [6 Dec 1973] 56498/73 Heading C1H [Also in Division C3] A fibre-reinforced gypsum plaster product is made by foaming a gypsum plaster mix to increase the fluidity and reduce the density of the mix, incorporating and dispersing the fibres in the mix, and then casting or otherwise forming the product from the mix. The final dry density of the product is typically in the range 700-1200 kg./m.<SP>3</SP>. According to an example, preformed foam of the type used for fighting petrol fires was incorporated in a stiff mix of hemihydrate gypsum plaster and water, fibre of E-glass roving chopped to lengths of 10-20 mm. were incorporated and dispersed in the foamed mix in an amount of 3% based on the weight of the dry plaster and a sheet 25 mm. thick and one metre square was formed from the foamed, fibrous mix. The water/plaster ratio was 0À35 by weight when using a 50/50 alpha/ beta gypsum plaster and 0À25 in the case of an alpha gypsum plaster. The product had a dry density of around 900 kg./m.<SP>3</SP>.
