1436572 Moulds for U- and T-slabs H HALLER and E WENDL 17 May 1973 23565/73 Heading B5A A beam having a planar surface on one side and projecting webs on the opposite side (e.g. U- or TT-shaped beam) is moulded from reinforced concrete between inner and outer mould casings 3, 2 (Fig. 5) the beam and inner casing being removed from the outer casing before the concrete has hardened, and the beam and inner casing being separated only after substantial hardening. The outer casing walls 2 are laterally displaceable along grooves 14, and different lengths of web are defined by adjustable bases 4. The inner casing 3 is made of sheet metal or concrete, encloses heating channels for air or steam, and is closed at its ends by plates 10 that include lifting loops, projections or apertures. Partitions 5 (Fig. 6) divide up the mould cavity and are supported vertically or inclined by templates 6 and clamps 11 engaging the outer casing 2. In use, reinforcement passes through partition apertures 13, strips 28 (Fig. 5) dowels, wire loops and plates are positioned in the mould cavity, and concrete cast and vibrated by machines 8. Screeding is effected by a template run over the outer casing and of selected depth, and the inner casing 3 and concrete beam are lifted away by crane and placed on a hardening plate. The embedded plates (made of expanded polystyrene, steel or wood) are removed for forming apertures through the beam webs, which then receive transverse reinforcing rods and webs (see Fig. 2, not reproduced). Further recesses or concreting is effected. The beam is laid side-by-side with others to form a ceiling, and may have a curved longitudinal axis.
