Abstract

1435999 Crop spraying GLOSTER DESIGN SERVICES (c & b) Ltd 2 July 1974 [3 July 1973] 31758/73 Heading A1D A crop spraying apparatus with booms which fold to a stowing position comprises a tanker vehicle I which may be self-propelled or towed by a tractor 2 and having a pylon 4 for mounting releasable boom bracing means comprising a beam 5, struts 6 and a tie wire 7 which has a weakened section 8 for overload release. A trailer vehicle comprises a beam 10 and transverse beam axle 12 at the rear and has support means for the folded booms. Stowing is achieved by releasing the tie wire 7 and the struts 6 from the booms which may then be folded at joints 18. At its outboard end, the section 17c has a variable height support wheel. Cables to raise the booms above obstructions are provided and these are attached to a point near the outboard joints 18 of the boom and to hydraulic jacks mounted on the trailer vehicle.
