Abstract

1433038 Calendar timepieces CITIZEN WATCH CO Ltd 19 April 1973 [19 April 1972] 19089/73 Heading G3T A calendar timepiece has a date ring 29 and a day wheel 24, which are indexed by respective pawls 7, 8 mounted on a lever 4 which is biased by a spring 5 against a snail cam 3 which rotates once per day, means being provided which prevent double-indexing of the calendar indicators but which permit correction thereof by a member 40 at any time. In the embodiment shown, after indexing, further indexing is avoided by engagement of projections 7b, 8b with respective arms 28a, 26a which prevents further rotation of the pawls. Should member 40 be operated at this time, arms 28a, 26a flex to permit correction of the indicators. In the modification of Fig. 7, not shown, arm 28a is omitted and double-indexing of date ring 29 is prevented by a projection (4f) of lever 4 engaging with one of the date ring teeth. To permit correction, lever 4 is forced to rotate about pivot 30 upon operation of member 40. In an alternative modification, Fig. 10, a rigid member 41 normally prevents double-indexing of the day wheel. Movement of member 40, which may be a conventional winding stem, to a calendar-correcting position rotates member 41 out of engagement with projection 8b. In the embodiment of Fig. 11, (not shown) a further pawl (43) rotated by a projection (4g) of lever 4 prevents double-indexing of the day wheel. In a final embodiment Fig. 12 (not shown) day feed wheel 23 is mounted on a resilient arm (49); double-indexing of the day wheel is prevented by a fixed arm (28c) but operation of the correcting member 40 carries the arm (49) to flex, thus disengaging wheels 23, 24.
