Abstract

1431264 Printing yarns using sprays CAMBRIDGE CONSULTANTS Ltd and BRITISH CARPETS Ltd 23 Oct 1973 [26 Oct 1972] 49415/72 Heading B6C In a multicolour yarn printing apparatus each print head 6 comprises a plurality of nozzles 8, 10 through which ink is ejected by a device 20 which is electrically vibrated and between the yarn 2 and each head is arranged electrically charged deflector plates 26 whereby the jets may be diverted from the target area on the moving yarn into collecting troughs 30 for reuse in the apparatus. The latter may be controlled by a device using a pre-recorded tape which determines the actuation of the heads, the deflecting plates 26, ink charge plates 24 above the plates 26 and the vibrators 20. In an alternative arrangement the deflector plates 26 may be used to direct the jets on to the moving yarn in which case printing only occurs when the plates are not actuated.
