Abstract
1430661 Energy absorbing steam generator wall liners UNITED STATES ENERGY RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION 17 Sept 1973 [22 Sept 1972] 43568/73 Heading F4A An energy absorbing liner 1 is provided inside the peripheral wall 2 of a steam generator and comprises two concentric thin walled cylinders 3 containing either a plurality of thin-walled tubes 4 filled with compacted steel weel (Fig. 2) or corrugated sheel metal 5 with compacted steel wool filler (Fig. 3). For a liner with a diameter of about 36 inches the spacing between cylinders 3 is typically 1 inch and the cylinders are formed from # inch thick stainless steel. Tubes 4 are also formed from stainless steel 0À072 inch thick and sheet 5 is approximately #inch thick. Preferably the steel wool is compacted to a density of about 0À07 lb./in.<SP>3</SP>.
