Abstract

1426728 Shaft couplings RADIANT SUPERJET Ltd 20 Feb 1973 [16 May 1972] 22809/72 Heading F2U [Also in Divisions F1 and F4] A drive unit for a liquid fuel burner having a fan and a fan casing (10), Fig. 1 (not shown), comprises an electric motor having a housing 12 for mounting on casing (10) and a shaft 13 for connection at one end thereof to the fan, a liquid fuel pump 18 having a drive-shaft 17, means 19 mounting pump 18 on housing 12, means drivingly connecting the other end of shaft 13 to pump shaft 17, and a motor cooling fan 14 mounted either on shaft 13 or on shaft 17 or on the means connecting shafts 13 and 17, the cooling fan 14 being disposed between the motor housing 12 and pump 18. Shaft 13 may carry a sleeve 15 mounting fan 14 and having slots 15a in which dogs 16a of a flexible coupling 16 on shaft 17 engage. Alternatively, the motor and pump shafts may be connected by a metal coupling (115), Fig. 3 (not shown), the cooling fan being mounted on the motor shaft. A trunnion of the pump body is received in a collar 20 bonded to the interior of a rubber sleeve 21 which is bonded to the interior of a portion 19b of an apertured metal spinning 19 mounted on motor housing 12.
