Abstract

1426342 Non-stick coatings IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES LTD 16 April 1974 [19 Nov 1973] 53583/73 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] Adherent, non-stick, low friction, heat resistant coatings may be applied to cooking utensils and industrial equipment by applying thereto a composition which comprises at least one fluorocarbon polymer dispersed in a solution or dispersion of at least one thermoplastic aromatic polysulphone in a liquid dispersing medium, the at least one thermoplastic aromatic polysulphone constituting 10-90% by weight of the combined weights of said at least one fluorocarbon polymer and said at least one thermoplastic aromatic polysulphone. The polysulphone preferably has repeat units selected from where Y is oxygen or sulphur, alone or together with units selected from (i), (ii) or (iii) above, and the preferred fluorocarbon polymer is PTFE. Suitable substrates mentioned are frying pans, saucepans, bakeware, internal surface of ovens and autoclaves, moulds, rollers, stirrers, mixers, chutes, hoppers, heat sealing jaws, domestic iron soles, food mixers, ice separators, saw blades and wires.
