Abstract
1423121 Preserving flowers &c G CLEMENTS 25 Oct 1972 [24 July 1971] 34831/71 Heading A2D [Also in Division A4] A method of preserving natural flowers, leaves, &c comprises dipping the flower into a dispersion of an acrylic resin e.g. methyl methacrylate, nitrocellulose or ethyl cellulose and a ketone, e.g. methyl ethyl ketone, acting as a volatile dispersant to form a film on the flower and allowing the film to drip and dry. The dispersion may be an emulsion and may include an aniline dye soluble in the ketone, and a plasticizer such as dibutyl phthalate, tricresyl phosphate or chlorinated diphenyl. The flower &c may be dried before dipping.
