Abstract

1423185 Specimen holder J BANCSICH W HADRIAN and A MARKSTEINER 24 Sept 1973 [27 Sept 1972] 44642/73 Heading G1B A specimen holder such as a test tube or slide, in particular for utilization in computerized laboratory operations includes a data carrier from which there are to be derived the necessary characteristic data for the identification of the specimen, wherein the data carrier includes magnetizable material and wherein the carrier is arranged as a shaped part detachable from the specimen holder. The magnetizable material on which the characteristic data is to be recorded, may be in the form of a uniformly distributed layer of magnetic particles e.g. magnetic tape or in the form of separate magnetizable elements. The holder is illustrated in Fig. 1 wherein a specimen holder in the form of a test tube 1 is provided with a detachable ring 2, which ring has a number of lengths of magnetizable wire 5 distributed over its periphery. The specimen holder and or shaped part is preferably provided with a physically incorporated identification mark, for example a projection or depression Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown).
