Abstract

1422808 Spring hinges W GRONBACH 21 May 1973 24132/73 Heading E2F In a spring biased hinge for the weight compensation of a lid (e.g. of a freezer cabinet) mounted about a horizontal axis, pre-compressed springs 6, 6' are supported at their lower ends in a fixed hinge member 3 and the springs bear against a spring rod 5, the upper end of which bears against a bearing pin 16 through a slide block 14 of a low friction material, the bearing pin 16 being mounted in a movable hinge member 1 pivoted about a hinge pin 4 to the fixed hinge member 3. Adjustment of the springs 6, 6' is effected by rotation of a cradle member 11 on a screw-threaded guide tube 10 relative to a bearing edge 12 on the fixed hinge member 3. Recesses 17 define the limits of the bearing pin 16 with respect to the fixed hinge member 3.
