Abstract

1421165 Gas scrubber LODGE-COTTRELL LTD 8 Jan 1973 [25 Jan 1972 25 Feb 1972 6 April 1972] 3431/72 8763/72 and 15891/72 Heading B1R A gas treatment apparatus comprises an upright tower 212 comprising a chamber 213 of high pressure construction, which separates off entrained moisture from entering gas, a chamber 218 of low pressure construction containing contact packing 308, means 314 for supplying cooling water for cooling by direct contact over the packing 308 gas from the high pressure chamber 213, a reservoir 316 for collecting the spent cooling water as well as any further moisture separated from the gas and conduit means 304 connecting the two chambers which means contains a gas pressure reducing means. A reservoir 232 may collect the moisture separated off in the high pressure chamber. The moisture separation means may be a conical baffle 241d located upstream of the conduit means 304. The gas supplied to the high pressure chamber 213 may be fuel gas or gas derived from a steelmaking process which gas has been scrubbed with water.
