Abstract
1419171 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmachines R W BRUNDAGE 10 July 1973 [31 July 1972] 32938/73 Heading F1F In a machine that can be used as a motor and has a rotor 40 and at least one rotary abutment member, perforated sealing plates 152 are biased radially outwards by pressure-loaded pins 166. As shown the machine has two abutment members 74, 76 coupled to the rotor by gears 68, 100 in a separate chamber 62 and supported by bearings 190, which are mounted in sealing rings 204 and pressed against a housing surface 98a by the working fluid in radial recesses 208. Sealing pins 134 are lodged in the rotor lobes 112a, b, c. Leakage fluid escapes through a passageway 214 from a thrust bearing 48 for the output shaft 46 and from the chamber 62 through a passage 216. A housing member 14 is furnished with mounting holes 22 and thrust-balancing recesses 144, 148 aligned axially with inlet and outlet passages 122, 124 for the working fluid, the outlet passage communicating with the trailing side of each lobe shortly before the lobe passes this passage.
