Abstract

1414864 Moulding watch parts SUWA SEIKOSHA KK 6 March 1973 [27 March 1972 6 April 1972 21 April 1972] 10771/73 Heading B5A [Also in Division G3] A method of producing an externally visible part of a watch, such as a watch case, dial, hand, indicium or bezel comprises pulverizing rocks and/or shells and compressing and sintering the pulverized material into the part. The compression preferably takes place at a pressure greater than 1 ton/cm.<SP>2</SP> and the sintering at a temperature above 350‹ C. A wide variety of rocks and shells are given as examples of suitable materials, and include precious and semiprecious stones, eruptive rock, metamorphic rock, sedimentary rock, minerals, pearl and shell fish shells. Lubricants, binding agents and pigments may be added to the pulverized material and various decorative effects may be produced by varying the amount and disposition of pigment in the article. The particular examples relate to a watch case made from diorite, a bezel made from andalusite, and an indicium made form crushed perrieri (a shell fish) shell.
