1411550 Feeding sheets EASTMAN KODAK CO 6 Nov 1972 [5 Nov 1971] 51055/72 Heading B8R In a copying machine, a supply hopper (12, Fig. 1) for stacked documents to be copied is located above the exposure station 17. A feed roller 22 advances the first document from the top of the stack along the travel path through separator rollers 27, 30 and a turn round mechanism 15 to an index position 32 adjacent the exposure station 17. The arrival of the leading edge of the first document at the index position 32 is sensed by a photoelectric detector 72 which activates the feed roller 22 to advance and hold in the index position a second document while the first document is being advanced by a conveyer across the exposure station 17. A second photoelectric detector 78 senses the arrival of the leading edge of the first document in the position overlying the exposure station 17, resulting in deactivation of the conveyer system so that the document is held stationary during exposure. Completion of exposure results in re-activation of the conveyer system to advance the first document to feed rollers 34, 35 which deliver the first document to a hopper 16, and forwarding of the second document from the index position 32 to the exposure station. A third document, if available, is advanced to the index position 32, so repeating the operation.
