Abstract

1411310 Electronic watches SUWA SEIKOSHA KK 28 Sept 1973 [2 Oct 1972] 45554/73 Heading G3T [Also in Division G5] In a timepiece having a liquid crystal display which is formed by sealed panels 3 located between upper and lower light polarizing members 4a, b, at least one of the polarizing members is separated from the display so that its orientation relative to the other may be varied. The contrast between the displayed numerals and their background may thus be adjusted Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown). As shown the member 4a is stuck to a ring 6 which may be rotated by a gear 8 fixed to a winding crown 7. The member 4b is stuck to the lower panel 3. Other arrangements are described in which the member 4a lies outside the watch glass and is fixed to a rotatable bezel (9), Fig. 5 (not shown), or is stuck to the inner face of the glass which may be turned after removal of a snap-fitting bezel (13), Fig. 6 (not shown).
