Abstract

1408263 Still with cooler NEIL & SPENCER Ltd 22 Nov 1972 [27 Aug 1971] 40339/71 Heading B1B [Also in Division Dl] In order to remove residual heat from a still 14 after a heating means is turned off, solvent circulates between the still 14 and a cooler 18 through a liquid passage 38, controlled by a valve 36, and a vapour duct 16 thereby preventing the interior temperature of the still from rising. Solvent after use in a dry cleaning drum 2 passes into the still 14 which is heated until a float 34 in a storage tank 8, which collects the solvent liquid condensed in the cooler 18, operates a switch to cut off the heating and opens the valve 36 to cool the still. To ensure that the cooler is not empty when the valve 36 in the passage 38 is opened, the outlet pipe 24 from the cooler to the tank 8 extends above the bottom of the cooler, but to a lower height than a weir 20 which prevents liquid solvent entering the duct 16.
