Abstract
1403840 Inductors TOKO Inc 11 May 1973 [12 May 1972] 22688/73 Heading HIT [Also in Division B5] A high frequency coil device 20 (Fig. 7A) is manufactured by locating a coil element 7 in an annular mould cavity at least one surface of which comprises a resilient layer 13 (Fig. 6) which compressively engages the coil element and injecting moulding material into the cavity to form a bobbin integral with the coil element. Those portions of the coil which are embedded in the resilient layer during injection, project from the surface of the finished moulded bobbin. The coil may be located on a mandrel 16 which is removed after moulding. The mandrel may have longitudinal grooves 16c, 16d, 16e which form axially extending ribs 21c, 21d, 21e on the bobbin, the ribs serving to grip a magnetic core (not shown) inserted in the bobbin. End portions 7a, 7b of the coil extend horizontally from the coil and are gripped between resilient layer portions 13b, 13c. The resilient layer may alternatively be on the mandrel or both on the moulds and on the mandrel.
