Abstract

1499864 Machines for laying pipes VSES N I INST GIDROTEKHNIKI I MELIORATSII IMENI AN KOSTYAKOVA 18 April 1975 [24 April 1974 29 May 1974 31 May 1974 17 Oct 1974 27 Dec 1974] 16014/75 Heading E1F [Also in Divisions A1 and F2] A machine for laying a drain comprises a frame 2 pivotally mounted on a vehicle and having a working tool pivotally mounted thereon for movement in a vertical plane, the working tool including a blade 7 which is vertically movable relative to blades 4a, 4b, a guide 5 for a flexible pipe 6, a hopper 12 for filtering material 9, a vertically movable shoe 18 for pivoting the frame 2, and a sensor 19 for controlling the gradient of the drain. The sensor 19 has a contact 29 which actuates contacts 30 or 32 of a switch 33 when the blade 7 is displaced beyond the limit #h. The control of the cutting depth when the blade 7 is displaced within the limit #h is effected by the vertical movement of the blade 7 by a ram 21. When the blade 7 is displaced beyond the limit #h, the contact 30 or 32 actuates a ram 23 connected to the shoe 18 to pivot the frame 2. Simultaneously the ram 21 lowers or raises the blade 7 relative to the vertically moving blades 4a, 4b to provide a preset cutting depth, and a ram 22 holds the working tool relative to the frame to ensure an optimum cutting angle for the blades 4 and 7. In a second embodiment, control of longitudinal and lateral angular displacements of the working tool is described. The hopper 12 comprises two telescopically interconnected parts, the top part being resiliently connected to the blades 4a, 4b, being vibrated by a vibrator 14, and having a top part of the guide 5 attached thereto; and the lower part being connected to the blade 7 and having a bottom part of the guide 5 attached thereto.
