Abstract

1499393 Heating tube ends WAVIN BV 24 March 1975 [25 March 1974] 12284/75 Headings F4B, F4W and F4U Apparatus for heating an end part of a synthetic tube of thermoplastic material comprises an oven 1 with a heating element 4. The oven has an end wall 5 with an opening 21 with elastic sealing flaps 6 and 7 through which a tube end 8a can slide. Within the oven supported from the oven structure is a cylindrical guide wall 12 with annular end plates 11 and 15 which support an open-ended channel 10. Fingers 20 on the end of the channel 10 adjacent the end wall 5 support a central closure member which forms part of the end wall 5. The channel 10, fingers 20 and central closure member are received within the inserted tube 8a. The guide wall 12 has vanes 13 on the outisde and the plate 11 has an annular deflector 14. A blower 22 causes the heating medium in the oven to pass over the heating element 4 and to be drawn axially along the outside of the tube and axially along the inside of the tube so that the tube end is rapidly heated.
