Abstract

1497877 D.C.-D.C. converters for TV receivers HITACHI Ltd 4 Feb 1975 [4 Feb 1974] 4730/75 Heading H2F [Also in Division H1] Apparatus for generating high voltage for the cathode-ray tube of a TV receiver comprises a transformer the primary winding of which is divided into sections of differing winding density or differing numbers of turns and a secondary winding which is divided by means of diodes into sections, one section (or group of sections) being tuned to the fifth harmonic of the fly-back frequency while another section (or group of sections) is tuned to a further odd harmonic (e.g. the seventh harmonic) of the fly-back frequency. As shown in Fig. 7, the secondary is divided into five sections each separated by a diode, and tappings being connected to the phosphor 12, the shadow mask 13, the anode 14 and the focussing electrode 15. Fig. 6 shows the transformer construction which comprises a primary bobbin 10 having primary windings 3, surrounded by a secondary bobbin 11 having secondary windings 41 ... 43 separated by diodes 7, 8, 9. The tuning to the required harmonics is achieved by choosing the appropriate number of turns of primary and secondary sections, relative to the self capacitance. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the primary winding may be distributed into 8 sections having 3 different numbers of turns. The invention reduces the effect of variation of EHT voltage with changes in beam current.
