Abstract
1495577 Spark erosion AEG-ELOTHERM GmbH 17 March 1975 [21 March 1974] 11069/75 Heading B3V [Also in Division G3] A spark erosion machine for machining a conical opening in a metal workpiece comprises a wire electrode 14 suspended between guide elements 2, 3 provided on a carrier member 10 which is pivotable about two horizontal axes 7, 9 contained in a plane between the guide elements 2, 3; and an eccentric drive 16 for moving the guide elements 2, 3 so as to change the orientation of the electrode 14, the drive 16 being controllable by a feed means for relatively moving the electrode 14 and a worktable positioned between the guide elements 2, 3. The guide elements 2, 3 are provided on a E-shaped member 10 which is pivotally connected at 9 to a L-shaped member 8 which is in turn pivotally connected at 7 to a F-shaped member 4. The members 4, 10 are connected together by an eccentric drive 16 consisting of a shaft 17 rotatably mounted in the member 4 and a shaft 23 rotatably mounted in the member 10 and integral with a block 22 slidable in a part 19 which is integral with the shaft 17. A change in the feed direction of a worktable (36) (Fig. 3,, not shown) which is moved under the control of an optical reading head (37), causes a pinion 18 on the shaft 17 to be rotated by a motor (41) resulting in a change in the orientation of the electrode wire 14. When the pinion 18 is rotated, the electrode 14 describes a double cone having its vertex at the intersection of the two axes 7, 9. The eccentricity of the drive 16 can be varied by adjustment of a screw 24.
