Abstract

1493453 Extrusion-slow moulding D E M OSSBERGER [trading as OSSBERGER TURBINENFABRIK] 30 May 1975 [1 June 1974] 23673/75 Heading B5A In a method of moulding a hollow article, thermoplastics material is extruded from a tubular die against a draw-off device which is removed from the die as extrusion continues to form a tubular preform which is then inflated within a mould. The wall thickness of the moulded article is dependent on three apparatus variables, namely the discharge rate of the plastics material from the die, the cross-section of the tubular die and the rate at which the draw-off device recedes from the tubular die and two of the said three variables are simultaneously altered during the production of the preform in accordance with the desired contours and/or wall thickness changes of the hollow article.
