Abstract

In order to prevent escape of microwave energy from a housing (12), in which the material, lying on a belt conveyor (24, 26, 28), is treated, a number of pairs of mutually adjacent ducts (170) are provided, both in an input shaft (70A) and in an output shaft (70B), which ducts each contain a conveyor belt (50) with, situated in its longitudinal direction at a spacing from one another, noses (52). The largest cross-sectional dimension is at the most 5 cm and the duct length at least 25 cm. <IMAGE>
