Abstract

1480964 Shaping food articles for baking SIMON-VICARS Ltd 14 Jan 1976 [20 Feb 1975] 7257/75 Heading, A2A Discrete pieces of starch based food product are positioned on the profiled (relieved on as forming a pattern) periphery of a rotating drum 13, shaped to conform to the contours of the profiles e.g. at 15 and heated (at 20) so as to at least partially bake them, then removing them (at 17) from the drum. The shaping means may comprise a profiled roller 15 whose raised portions correspond to the depressed portions of the drum. The roller may have a non stick surface. The heaters may be located inside or outside the drum. The pieces may be removed from the drum by a brush or scraper and may then pass to a conveyor belt 16 for conveying through an oven 22 after which they may be further treated e.g. at 23, by dusting with a flavouring medium. The drum may be supplied from a conveyor belt 11 which is supplied from a moulding or drop depositing machine 12.
